Adorable DIY Cloth Diapers

I recently decided to try my hand at making my own cloth diapers.  It was so much easier than I expected, and I love how they turned out!

Stuff I used:  PUL fabric, cotton outer fabric, suedecloth fabric, bamboo cotton fabric, hemp fabric, hook and loop tape, and elastic.  (Amounts of each will vary depending on how many diapers you plan to make.)  Sewing machine, good scissors, and a rotary cutter and mat.

Free, detailed instructions and pattern:

Pictures below!

The inside:  Pretty brown suedecloth

The outside:  Sweet little hedgehogs!

Making these was definitely time consuming but the end result was so worth it!  They're not perfect sewing-wise, as I'm still learning, but I still think they rock!

  1. Do you think that using PUL fabric is a must in making these? Do you think using some iron-on vinyl or just some thick vinyl in between the suede and cotton outside fabric would work just as well?

  3. Hi Sue! Vinyl would work for waterproofing, but PUL is typically used since it is more breathable and lessens the chance of baby getting a rash. So you could try the vinyl but be sure to change baby frequently, and be on the lookout for irritation. Hope that helps! If you make these please share a picture, I would love to see them! =]
